October is probably my favorite month of the year! Crisp air, pretty leaves, boots, scarves, pumpkin spice lattes and of course, BOOK CHARACTER DAY!
Teachers spent most of September building classroom communities, teaching procedures and routines, and testing in order to use multiple data sources to drive their instruction.
October 7th is one of four of our early release days that the district implemented this year. Students will be released at 11:45am and teachers will look at data they collected from the past 6 weeks to come up with action plans for re-teaching students and extending students who have mastered a standard.
October 30th we are hosting our first ever Washam Read-a-Thon! Students and staff will dress as their favorite book character and celebrate a day dedicated to reading! We need your help! We are looking for guest readers willing to visit classrooms during our guest reader portion of the day. If you are interested in participating in this event, please select an available time slot that works best for you. You are welcome to sign up for more than one time slot if you so choose. We are hoping to fill all time slots!
Important Notes:
Time slots are reserved on a first come, first serve basis…reserve your space now!
Participation in this is event is optional!
Guest readers are welcome to dress as their favorite character as well-the kids love it!
Guest readers are encouraged to bring their own book to share; however, there will be books available for you to choose from.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early so that you can get to class by the time slot you signed up for.
Don't forget that all guest readers must bring their license in order to sign in at the front office and receive a visitor pass.
