My name is Lisa Bryant and I am the literacy facilitator at J.V. Washam. As literacy facilitator, I collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and administrators to support students in becoming avid and skilled readers, writers and inquirers. My goal is for all J.V. Washam students to develop a love for reading as well as become proficient readers that will prepare them for the 21st century.
I graduated from East Carolina with a degree in Elementary Education and obtained a Masters in Reading Education from Wingate University. In 2013 I became a National Board Certified Teacher.
This past summer, I had the privilege to work with children in a poverty-stricken village in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. My vision is to build relationships with the teachers and community members there, in order to support them with their literacy curriculum.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, friends, and my dog, Rookie. To stay healthy and fit, I CrossFit and like to compete in competitions about once a season. Of course when I am not “crossfitting” or spending time with Rookie or my friends, I love to curl up and read a good book. Occasionally when I have the time, I enjoy cooking.
Feel free to stop by and introduce yourself to me and tell me a little about you and your child(ren)!
